During the discussion, Mr. Li Junhua commended the ongoing reforms and initiatives undertaken by Uzbekistan to advance e-government. He particularly highlighted the country’s efforts to improve its position in the UN e-Government Development Index (EGDI) and its ambitious goal to join the top 30 nations in this ranking by 2030.
Notably, Uzbekistan advanced six positions in this year’s EGDI, entering the "Very High" category. Over the past two rankings, the country has risen a total of 24 places, reflecting significant progress in the digital transformation agenda.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on the upcoming UN Public Service Forum, scheduled to take place in Samarkand. Discussions focused on the Forum's theme, keynote speakers and preparations to ensure its success at the highest organizational level.
Key topics of the dialogue included the development of ICT infrastructure, further enhancement of Uzbekistan’s e-government ranking, strengthening the role of youth in the IT sector, and expanding avenues for long-term cooperation. The importance of achieving sustainable development goals through digital transformation was a central point of emphasis.
Concluding the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Nations. They committed to implementing global best practices and strengthening efforts to achieve sustainable, inclusive and digitally-driven development.
