In honor of the 120th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s trade union movement, various cultural, educational, sports, and charitable events are being held throughout the country. One such meaningful initiative took place on May 25, 2025, in Mirishkor district.
In collaboration with the Mirishkor district khokimiyat (local government) and the District Council of the Trade Union of State Institutions and Public Service Employees of Uzbekistan, a memorable and educational excursion to the ancient and magnificent city of Samarkand was organized for government employees, specialists, technical staff, and employees of the Departments of Family and Women’s Affairs, and Youth Affairs, along with their family members.
During the trip, participants visited the world-famous Registan Square, admired its unique architecture and exquisite decorative art, and learned about its rich history. Guides shared fascinating stories about the three legendary madrasahs — Ulugbek, Sherdor, and Tillya-Kari, highlighting their historical and cultural significance.
The next stop was the Amir Temur Mausoleum — Gur-e Amir, where participants were introduced to the life and legacy of the great statesman and commander Amir Temur, whose influence left an indelible mark on world history. Visitors explored the architectural features, intricate tilework, and inscriptions within the mausoleum.
The excursion continued with visits to the Bibi-Khanym Mosque and the Shakhi-Zinda Complex. At each site, participants learned about the history of these ancient landmarks, the legends surrounding them, and their unique architectural characteristics. The Shakhi-Zinda Complex, with its sacred tombs and elaborate ornamentation, left a particularly strong impression on the group.
In addition to sightseeing, a cultural program was arranged for the participants, including a tour of modern and historic areas of Samarkand. Fun games and contests were held for the children and families, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere for all.
This trip served not only as a well-deserved break for civil servants but also as an opportunity to strengthen team spirit, family values, and appreciation for the country’s rich historical heritage. Participants expressed their sincere gratitude to the organizers and voiced their hope that such meaningful initiatives would continue to be held in the future.
The Mirishkor district khokimiyat and the District Council of the Trade Union have announced plans to carry on organizing similar cultural and educational events moving forward.
