On January 28, 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Olimjon Abdullayev met with Latvian Minister of Welfare Uldis Augulis, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Igor Raevs, Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Rinald Belis, as well as representatives of large employers and recruiting companies.

Issues of labor migration, attraction of qualified specialists from Uzbekistan, protection of their rights and working conditions were discussed. An agreement was reached on the joint elaboration of a bilateral agreement on cooperation in the field of labor migration.

Following the meetings with the Latvian side, cooperation agreements were signed aimed at simplifying employment and providing social guarantees for Uzbek citizens.
