On January 28, Deputy Foreign Minister Olimjon Abdullayev met with Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže and Director General of the Foreign Ministry Directorate Agnēsa Kalnina in Riga.

During the metting the issue of reviewing the draft Agreement on Migration with the prospect of further signing was discussed, which will reflect the issues of facilitating the visa regime for citizens of Uzbekistan.

The parties noted the importance of cooperation in this area and the establishment of a permanent dialogue in the field of labor migration, including regular consultations.

The foreign party emphasized that Uzbekistan is an important partner of Latvia in the Central Asian region.

A firm belief was expressed that cooperation between the two countries in the field of labor migration is of mutual interest and has clear long-term prospects.

The parties agreed on the need to hold consular consultations between the relevant departments of the Foreign Ministry this year.
