At the Specialized School of Margilan city, an important socio-political event was held on the initiative of the City Department for Family and Women’s Affairs, in cooperation with the city prosecutor’s office, the city police department, and the Social Services Center. The event was organized in accordance with the UN General Assembly’s 1999 resolution on the occasion of the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women — 25 November,” within the global “16 Days of Activism” campaign, under the theme: “Let’s unite to eliminate digital violence against women!”
The event was attended by Mansura Salimova, a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Gulnora Juraboyeva, head of the City Department for Family and Women’s Affairs, as well as representatives of law enforcement bodies and the media.
Speakers emphasized that the fight against violence towards women in our country is no longer just a social initiative — it has become a priority direction at the level of state policy.
It was also noted that, within the framework of the Campaign, large-scale awareness activities, meetings, and information initiatives are being conducted across the republic from 25 November to 10 December.
During the event, a stage performance was presented, dedicated to the reforms and results achieved in combating violence against women in certain families of various regions.
Indeed, the improvement of legislation, the inclusion of domestic violence provisions in the Criminal and Administrative Codes, the introduction of the protection-order system, and the development of psychological and social services — all of these are yielding practical results.
Uzbekistan’s strong political will and firm stance in this area play a decisive role in ensuring the safety of women in society.
