A spiritual and educational meeting on the topic “Ideological Threats in the Era of Globalization and the Responsibility of Civil Servants” was organized at the Ministry of Culture.
The event, led by the Minister's Advisor Shavkat Ortiqov, featured participation from the People's Poet of Uzbekistan, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, recipient of the "Fidokorona Xizmatlari Uchun" (For Devoted Service) Order and the “Shuhrat” Medal, and Editor-in-Chief of the “Jadid” Newspaper Iqbol Mirzo, as well as Doctor of Philology, Professor Bahodir Karimov, who shared their thoughts and insights.
As noted, today, there is a significant increase in various threats and conflicts around the world, which are negatively affecting human hearts and the consciousness of the younger generation. Attempts to implant foreign ideologies are growing stronger. In such a complex environment, a healthy-minded society with a strong spiritual immunity pays special attention to preserving its traditions and raising the younger generation in the spirit of national and universal human values.
Therefore, the development of education and upbringing, the preservation of national traditions and values, and promoting them globally are given great importance in our country. The role of intellectuals and, in particular, representatives of the cultural sphere is crucial in this process.
During the discussion, examples from history were shared. As emphasized by the People's Poet of Uzbekistan Iqbol Mirzo, “Unity in language, thought, and action” was the noble idea behind the struggle for independence by our Jadid ancestors, who believed that the main path to awakening the people from ignorance and leading them from darkness and backwardness was through knowledge and enlightenment, and the acquisition of secular progress.
Thus, they opened new-style schools, theaters, libraries, and publishing houses, and published newspapers and journals to change the worldview and lifestyle of society members. Furthermore, they sent youth to study in advanced countries. Today, in the New Uzbekistan, reforms aimed at creating a just, free, and prosperous society, where human dignity is honored, and a people-oriented state is built, are fully in harmony with the noble ideas and programs of our Jadid ancestors.
Literary scholar Bahodir Karimov elaborated on the Jadid movement. He noted that the establishment of the “Jadid” newspaper, with the special attention and support of the country's leadership, was an important event, and the publication has been widely highlighting the life and work of our enlightened ancestors, as well as the exemplary deeds of contemporary figures, which have generated great interest among readers.
At the end of the event, People's Poet of Uzbekistan Iqbol Mirzo read his famous poem “Jadidlar” (“The Jadids”), and actors from the Uzbekistan State Drama Theater performed a scene from the play “Turkiston Bolalari” (“Children of Turkistan”).
