Winners of the VI Republican Contest "The Best Work Created in the Maqam Genre" were awarded

On December 13, a solemn awards ceremony for the winners of the VI Republican Contest "The Best Work Created in the Maqam Genre" was held at the Yunus Rajabi Institute of Uzbek National Musical Art.
This contest was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Center for Uzbek National Maqam Art, the Union of Composers and Musicians of Uzbekistan, the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan, the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan, and the Yunus Rajabi Institute of Uzbek National Musical Art. It marked an important step in the development of national musical heritage and the discovery of new talents.
During the ceremony, the First Deputy Minister of Culture, Bahodir Ahmedov, delivered a speech. In his address, he deeply analyzed the significance of maqam and emphasized:
"Today, in these historic moments, I believe all participants of the VI Republican Contest 'The Best Work Created in the Maqam Genre' should be proud of their involvement in this prestigious competition. This contest not only unveils the finest examples of our national art but also serves as a vital foundation for nurturing young talents and promoting our national culture on a global scale."
Bahodir Ahmedov highlighted the historical roots of maqam and its importance today, noting the personal initiatives and efforts of the head of state in preserving this art form:
"At the end of the last century, maqam was on the brink of extinction. However, thanks to the wise decisions of our esteemed President, this sacred heritage has entered a new era of revival and development. Today, we have achieved recognition of maqam not only in our country but also internationally. For instance, this year, the II International Maqam Art Festival was held in the Zomin district of Jizzakh region, with participants and guests from 84 countries worldwide. This demonstrates the effectiveness of our President's initiatives. These reforms clearly show that we are on the right path in restoring and promoting our national art and culture."
Speaking about the significance of such contests, Bahodir Ahmedov stressed their strategic role in preserving national cultural heritage and creating new opportunities for creative individuals:
"Such contests and major international events play an invaluable role in passing our national musical and cultural heritage to future generations, transforming our national culture into an integral part of world cultural heritage. This process vividly reflects our commitment to the arts and the far-sighted cultural policies of our President."
Bahodir Ahmedov's words were warmly received by the attendees, further enhancing their interest and respect for national art.
During the ceremony, talented performers who showcased their creative approach to maqam were awarded:
1st place:
- O‘ktam Rasulov – "Muhammasi Nabiulloh."
2nd place:
- Ilyos Arabov – "Garduni Iroq."
- G‘afur Eshchanov – "Topilmas."
3rd place:
- Bahodir Babajonov – "Savti Iroq."
- Nodir Vahobov – "Nasri Iroq."
