In independent Uzbekistan, interethnic and interfaith harmony and mutual understanding, as well as the upbringing of the younger generation in the spirit of tolerance, respect for national and universal values, and patriotism, have become one of the most important priorities of state policy.
Our Constitution and laws stipulate that all citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, regardless of their nationality, language, and religion, enjoy equal rights and freedoms. All conditions have been created for them to develop their culture, traditions, and customs.
According to a decision by the UN General Assembly, November 16th has been celebrated worldwide as International Day for Tolerance since 1997. Since 2019, upon the initiative of our head of state, this date has been celebrated in Uzbekistan as part of Tolerance Week. This year, the tradition continues, and from November 11th to 16th, Uzbekistan is hosting "Tolerance Week." During these 7 days, various cultural, educational, and scientific-practical events are being held.
On November 15th, as part of Tolerance Week, a gala concert titled "Melodies of Tolerance" was held at the Uzbekistan Federation of Trade Unions Palace in the capital, with participation from masters of Uzbek culture and art.
Representatives from ministries and departments, state and public organizations, national cultural center representatives, and guests from the capital gathered at the event.
It was noted that the main goal of celebrating this date was to unite the experience and scientific potential of countries worldwide in ensuring interethnic harmony, to showcase the cultures of different nations, to strengthen mutual trust with foreign countries, including neighboring states, and to establish mutually beneficial relationships with compatriots abroad. The goal also includes preserving the culture, language, national traditions, and customs of all ethnic groups and religious communities living in Uzbekistan and strengthening friendship and tolerance among them.
Afterward, the attendees were presented with a concert prepared by famous artists and national cultural centers, which featured songs sung in various languages, based on the poems of writers and poets from different nations. This brought a positive energy to everyone present.
It is worth noting that the events held during "Tolerance Week" contribute to educating citizens, especially the youth, in the spirit of preserving universal human values, respecting the values of different peoples, and promoting the ideas of sincere friendship in the world.
