Based on the Resolution No. 536 of the Cabinet of Ministers of September 2, 2020, "On the Organization of the Activities of the Uzbek National Institute of Music Art named after Yunus Rajabiy," the institute was established on the basis of relevant educational programs of the Uzbekistan State Conservatory and the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture. It serves as a leading higher education institution that trains specialists in maqom performance, baxshi (epic singing), and katta ashula (a traditional Uzbek vocal genre).
For the 2024/2025 academic year, the institute has admitted a total of 225 students, including five full-time undergraduate programs, two part-time study programs, and three master's degree specializations.
