Modern Management and Leadership Issues Discussed at the University of Geological Sciences

Improving management efficiency and developing modern leadership skills within the system of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan are priority areas of state policy. In this regard, on May 14, 2026, a special seminar-forum for industry leaders and specialists with the participation of international experts was organized at the University of Geological Sciences.
The primary goal of the event is the transformation of organizational culture, the introduction of innovative management approaches, and the strengthening of human resource potential. The forum was attended by heads of organizations within the ministry system and their deputies, who familiarized themselves with international leadership standards and practical tools.
The seminar was opened by the Rector of the University of Geological Sciences, A.A. Kadirkhodjaev, who outlined the forum's goals and objectives. Subsequently, the main sessions began under the moderation of Ekaterina Galitsina, Director for Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus at KfW IPEX-Bank.
During the first session, Professor Svetlana Khapova from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam delivered a presentation on "Leadership, Silence, and Unexpressed Risks." New approaches to leadership in modern organizations and the importance of creating an environment for open dialogue within teams were discussed.
The second session focused on organizational development and innovative approaches. Participants gained practical skills based on the advanced management practices of Germany and the Netherlands, change management mechanisms, and effective methods for team development.
