This international day was proclaimed by the initiative of the UN General Assembly, aimed at ensuring human safety and mitigating the consequences of natural disasters. Conference participants discussed earthquake prevention, strengthening geological monitoring, and international cooperation in this field.
The initiative to observe the International Day of Remembrance for Earthquake Victims was first proposed by the Head of State on March 16, 2023, during an extraordinary summit of the Organization of Turkic States. At that time, the President emphasized the urgent need to strengthen practical cooperation with international organizations specializing in emergency situations.
During the forum, Ministry representatives provided information on control measures being implemented in the geological sector and modern approaches to ensuring seismic safety. Specialists reviewed measures to enhance state supervision regarding the seismic resistance of buildings and the study of fault lines.
This conference serves as a vital platform for state control bodies and geological services. The establishment of systematic monitoring and science-based control mechanisms not only ensures public safety but also protects economic infrastructure from the risks of natural disasters.
Dialogue at the international level increases accountability in ensuring compliance with seismic safety requirements. This ultimately serves to strengthen legality in the construction and mining sectors and helps prevent unforeseen losses in the future.
