The Inspectorate for Control in the Mining Industry and Geology conducted 471 preventive inspections and 74 desk-based monitoring activities at oil and gas industry facilities between January and September 2026. These activities identified 1,025 violations of sector-specific regulatory requirements.
The oversight activities focused on ensuring operational safety, assessing the reliability of technical equipment, evaluating employees' professional competence, and preventing industrial accidents and workplace injuries.
During the preventive inspections, the Inspectorate examined production processes, compliance with safety requirements, and existing deficiencies at enterprises. Responsible officials were instructed to address the violations identified.
During the reporting period, 82 applications and documents related to licensing and permitting procedures in the field of industrial safety were reviewed. This work forms part of the oversight of compliance with the requirements established for operations at hazardous industrial facilities.
To reduce the risk of accidents, 20 technical devices used in drilling and major repair operations at oil and gas wells underwent testing. Such tests help assess the technical condition of equipment and identify risks associated with its operation.
Attention was also given to improving employees' professional knowledge. During the reporting period, 48 seminars were organized, and the knowledge of 1,241 employees working at hazardous industrial facilities was assessed.
According to the assessment results, 78 employees demonstrated an unsatisfactory level of knowledge. Enterprise managers received written instructions to improve these employees' qualifications and address the deficiencies identified.
At the same time, 7 workplace accidents were recorded at oil and gas facilities supervised by the Inspectorate during the first nine months of 2026. Of these, 1 resulted in a fatality, while 6 resulted in serious bodily injuries.
All incidents were examined, and the collected materials were forwarded to the internal affairs authorities for legal assessment.
The reporting results highlight the need for regular evaluation of both technical safety and employees' professional knowledge and qualifications in the oil and gas industry. In particular, the unsatisfactory assessment results of some employees and the recorded workplace accidents demonstrate the importance of continuing preventive measures.
Consistent oversight is intended to reduce operational risks, prevent production disruptions caused by equipment failures, and ensure legal compliance across enterprises. These measures are relevant not only to protecting employees' lives and health but also to maintaining the economic stability of industrial operations.
