At the initiative of the Trade Union Committee of the Inspectorate for Control of Mining Industry and Geology, a one-day trip to Samarkand was organized for 26 employees.
The trip took place on October 10, 2026, as part of the “Travel Around Uzbekistan!” program. It aimed to provide meaningful leisure opportunities for employees, strengthen team cohesion, and promote greater awareness of Uzbekistan’s historical and cultural heritage.
According to the itinerary, participants traveled from Tashkent to Samarkand by bus. Their first destination was the Imam al-Bukhari Memorial Complex, where they learned about the scholarly legacy of the renowned Islamic scholar and his contribution to Islamic intellectual history.
The employees then visited the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, the burial site of Amir Temur. During the visit, participants had an opportunity to explore the history of the Timurid era, its architectural traditions, and the importance of preserving historical monuments.
The tour continued at Registan Square, one of Samarkand’s best-known architectural landmarks. Participants learned about the distinctive architectural features of the Ulugh Beg, Tilya-Kori, and Sher-Dor madrasahs, as well as their historical roles in the development of science, education, and culture.
The itinerary also included visits to the Hazrati Khizr Mosque and the mausoleum of Islam Karimov, the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Time was additionally allocated for participants to experience Samarkand’s traditional cuisine and become acquainted with local handicraft traditions.
Throughout the trip, employees had opportunities to communicate in an informal setting, exchange views, and strengthen professional relationships outside their regular working environment.
Activities of this kind, organized by the Trade Union Committee, are intended to support employees’ cultural recreation, maintain a positive social environment within the workforce, and contribute to the development of domestic tourism.
The significance of the trip extends beyond providing leisure opportunities. Such initiatives can help strengthen cooperation among employees, encourage social engagement, and create conditions for a positive attitude toward professional responsibilities.
Participation by employees of government institutions in domestic tourism programs also helps support demand for regional tourism services, broaden public knowledge of historical landmarks, and promote Uzbekistan’s national cultural heritage.
