Uzbekcoal JSC organized a press tour for journalists and bloggers to the Angren Coal Mine branch. Participants were briefed on the new procedure for introducing market mechanisms in the coal industry, the system for supplying coal to meet household needs, the company’s production capacity, and the implementation of its plans for 2026.
The press tour began with a press conference at the Central Dispatching Center of the Angren Coal Mine branch. E. Yakubov, First Deputy General Director of Uzbekcoal JSC, took part in the event and provided information on changes taking place in the sector and the tasks facing the company.
It was noted that the new procedure for introducing market mechanisms in the coal industry is being implemented on the basis of Resolution No. 418 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 30, 2026. The system provides for the regional distribution of coal allocated for household needs, the placement of products on exchange trading platforms, delivery through private entrepreneurs, and transparent sales processes through a digital platform.
In 2026, the company plans to supply households with 1 million 530 thousand tons of locally produced coal. The first batches of coal placed on exchange trading platforms for the needs of residents of Andijan, Fergana and Namangan regions have already been purchased by private entrepreneurs. Contract formalization and delivery of the products to the designated regions are currently underway.
Uzbekcoal JSC plans to produce 5.8 million tons of coal in 2026. During the first eight months of the year, 3.7 million tons of coal were mined, and the same volume was supplied to consumers. At present, the company’s enterprises are producing an average of 25 thousand tons of solid fuel per day.
Uzbekcoal JSC has 8 branches, of which 3 are directly involved in coal extraction. Approximately 6,000 employees work within the system. Alongside coal production, work is being carried out to uncover overburden layers, improve operational processes and enhance product quality.
The mine in the Angren coal basin was commissioned in 1948. Its initial annual capacity was 1.5 million tons. Following reconstruction and modernization projects, its production capacity increased nearly fourfold.
During the press tour, media representatives visited the mine area and observed the processes of coal extraction, sorting and loading, as well as the operation of heavy mining equipment. Discussions with specialists provided additional information on extraction technologies, the use of modern equipment and production plans.
The figures presented during the press tour show that Uzbekcoal JSC is continuing to update the mechanisms for supplying coal to the population while increasing production volumes. The digitalization of processes and introduction of exchange trading are intended to increase transparency at the stages of product movement and sales.
