On September 13 of this year, an international round table titled "Modern Geology: Policy, Technologies, Regional Studies, and Human Capital" was held in Tashkent within the framework of GEOMIN 2026. The event was opened by Feruza Hamidova, First Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The event brought together heads and representatives of geological services, scientific organizations, and sectoral agencies from Uzbekistan, France, Finland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Turkey, the United States, and other countries, alongside international professional bodies. The main discussion focused on the digital transformation of the sector and the implementation of modern research methodologies.
Participants thoroughly examined the application of Artificial Intelligence in processing geological, geophysical, and geochemical data, as well as the creation of 3D models and digital twins.
The First Deputy Minister highlighted ongoing efforts in Uzbekistan to digitize historical geological archives and integrate them into the National Geological Database. Special emphasis was placed on data standardization, leveraging AI in exploration, and updating resource classification frameworks to meet international reporting standards.
Furthermore, discussions addressed young specialist training and the integration of geoinformatics, data analytics, and 3D modeling into educational programs through expanded international collaboration. At the conclusion of the event, key priority areas for future cooperation between national geological services and scientific bodies were established.
Establishing unified digital tracking and centralized databases in geology ensures absolute operational transparency. The deployment of AI and advanced modeling techniques significantly reduces exploration risks and costs, strengthening the investment appeal of the national mineral resources sector.
