Uzbekistan and Pakistan Expand Cooperation in Geology and Mining Industry

An official meeting was held at the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan with a delegation led by the Rector of the National University of Sciences and Technology of Pakistan (NUST), Dr. Muhammad Zahid Latif. The talks were attended by the Minister of Mining Industry and Geology B. Islamov, ministry officials, and the leadership of the University of Geological Sciences (UGS). This meeting is aimed at bringing the system of professional education, scientific research, and personnel training between the two countries to a new level.
During the meeting, promising areas for establishing mutually beneficial cooperation between the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology and NUST in the fields of geology and mining were defined. The parties discussed in detail the issues of fully mobilizing available capabilities and implementing joint projects.
The main focus of the dialogue was placed on strengthening educational and scientific ties between the University of Geological Sciences and NUST. In particular, agreements were reached on the systematic organization of faculty, researcher, and specialist exchanges, conducting joint research activities, and sharing academic experience. Measures were also outlined to support the activities of the specialized NUST department at UGS and to further expand its material, technical, and scientific capabilities.
Such cooperation between the leading scientific and educational institutions of Uzbekistan and Pakistan enables the training of highly qualified personnel for the mining and geological sectors in accordance with international standards. Establishing scientific and academic exchanges will contribute to the introduction of innovative technologies and enhance the efficiency of the mining industry.
