A meeting dedicated to the content and significance of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. ZRU-1155 dated June 22, 2026, was held at the Inspection for Control in the Mining Industry and Geology. Chief Specialist on Anti-Corruption J. Zikirov addressed the event, providing a detailed explanation of the crucial role and practical importance of this legislative act in ensuring legality within the sector.
During the meeting, key amendments introduced by Law No. ZRU-1155 to several existing legislative acts, including the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Responsibility, were analyzed. It was emphasized that under the new rules, a precise list of corruption-related crimes has been defined, and the powers and legal guarantees of compliance and internal anti-corruption control units in state bodies have been fundamentally strengthened. Furthermore, the implementation of an electronic registry of individuals convicted of corruption offenses and the imposition of strict restrictions on their entry into public service or participation in public procurement were explained.
For the staff of the Inspection and its regional branches, mechanisms for the early detection and mapping of corruption risks were highlighted, alongside legal and social protection frameworks for individuals reporting violations. It was noted that violating established requirements regarding the margin between initial and average market prices in public procurement now incurs fines ranging from 30 to 50 times the base calculating amount. Sector inspectors were assigned specific tasks to enhance transparency across all areas and cultivate an atmosphere of zero tolerance toward corruption.
These reforms and the reinforcement of the oversight system serve to ensure the efficient use of state resources and the prevention of unlawful activities within the sector. Ensuring compliance with the law and transparency creates a firm foundation for boosting investment attractiveness and driving sustainable economic growth in the mining and geology industries.
