The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis hosted its regular "Government Hour." Deputies reviewed environmental protection, land and water resource preservation in subsoil-use, and compliance with safety requirements in mining operations. The Minister of Mining Industry and Geology, B. Islamov, presented a report on the work being carried out in the sector.
The Minister emphasized that special attention is currently being paid to the digitalization of subsoil-use processes and the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies. To combat corruption and ensure transparency, the "Geomonitoring" information system was launched, which maintains digital records of more than 2,000 mineral sites. The issuance of licenses and permits has been entirely transitioned into an electronic format.
The restoration of degraded lands, specifically land reclamation, is under strict control. In 2025, 2,085 hectares of land were reclaimed, and in the first half of 2026, an additional 340.8 hectares were restored. By the end of this year, it is planned to reclaim at least 1,000 hectares of land. Concurrently, efforts to improve the accounting and control system for groundwater-use are ongoing.
The deployment of these digital control mechanisms helps reduce the share of the shadow economy in the sector and prevents the illegal exploitation of natural resources. Systematic monitoring and land reclamation contribute not only to maintaining environmental balance but also to enhancing safety levels at industrial facilities and ensuring stable revenues to the state budget.
