Erkinjon Turdimov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Minister of Education and Science, reviewed presentations prepared by officials responsible for higher education on the current state of the system, ongoing reforms and priority tasks for the future.
During the presentations, particular attention was paid to improving the quality of education at higher education institutions, aligning curricula with labour market needs, and strengthening cooperation between science and industry.
The discussions also focused on creating favourable conditions for students, ensuring access to in-depth knowledge, promoting foreign language learning, helping students master their chosen professions, and enabling them to apply theoretical knowledge in practice. Supporting graduates in finding employment in their respective fields after completing their studies was also highlighted as an important priority.
Other key issues included enhancing the research capacity of higher education institutions, supporting academic staff, translating research findings into practical applications, and expanding international cooperation.
The main objective is to transform higher education into more than just a system that awards diplomas. It should become an environment that nurtures independent thinkers with strong academic knowledge, solid professional skills and the expertise needed to become highly qualified specialists in their respective fields.
During the presentations, particular emphasis was placed on thoroughly analysing existing challenges, developing concrete proposals to address them, and ensuring that the tasks set lead to tangible, practical results.
