As previously reported, specialists from the Agency for Plant Quarantine and Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan are on a working visit to the Republic of Latvia to exchange experience.
One of the key locations of the program was the “Vecauce” farm of the Latvian Agronomists’ Society, located in Dobele District. The Agency’s specialists familiarized themselves with advanced practices in the field of Integrated Plant Protection (IPM), modern technologies, and innovative approaches. The farm’s manager shared the history of the enterprise, methods of maintaining soil fertility, and achieving long-term agro-economic sustainability.
Another important destination of the visit was the Dobele Institute of Horticulture. Here, advanced approaches to fruit cultivation — especially the processing of small berry crops — were presented. Specialists from the institute, including Daniels Udalovs, shared their experience in fruit storage, processing, and preparation for export. In addition, the guests were introduced to ongoing research activities, laboratory testing, breeding, and variety selection processes.
This working visit holds great practical significance for specialists in Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector. The acquired knowledge and experience will serve as a driving force for modernizing the country’s agriculture, promoting the rational use of resources, increasing productivity, and ensuring environmental safety.
