Gender equality requires long-term institutional approaches. In order to consistently implement the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Global Agenda until 2030, in May 2021 the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations, developed eight tasks aimed at ensuring gender equality and expanding the rights and opportunities of all women, as well as adopted the “Gender Equality Strategy.” According to this strategy, by 2030 it is planned to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women, ensure their full and effective participation, and provide equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic, and social life.
The purpose of the Law “On Guarantees of Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men” adopted on September 2, 2019, is also to regulate relations in the field of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men.
At the round table organized by the Agency for Plant Quarantine and Protection under the theme “Gender Equality, Increasing the Socio-Economic and Political Activity of Women,” the participants discussed the work being carried out in this area in our country and particularly emphasized the opportunities currently being provided to women.
Invited speakers from the Committee on Family and Women’s Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National Academic Drama Theatre analyzed, through the example of their professional activities, the attention being paid to gender policy.
