Most Arabs living in Uzbekistan live in the Kashkadarya region. The Arab National Cultural Center of Uzbekistan was established in the region in 1991 and is still active.
Over the past period, at the initiative of the Arab National Cultural Center, a famous enterprise for weaving Arabic carpets on the basis of ancient technologies was established in the town of Jeynov, and a course to teach the Arabic language was opened. An ethnographic museum about the traditions and customs of Uzbek Arabs was also been established.
The most distinguished chapter in the center’s history is associated with the name of Murodullo Saidov (1935–2009), a celebrated cotton grower and recipient of the title “Hero of Uzbekistan.” As head of the Jeynov farm in the Mirishkor district, Saidov led his team to become one of the country’s most advanced agricultural collectives. With the support of the center and the Uzbekfilm studio, several documentaries were produced about the history and culture of Uzbek Arabs, including From the Sheep of the Centuries, Jeynovliks, and Arabs of Uzbekistan.
Today, the center has a folk ensemble Al-Arabiya, which performs ancient Arabic songs and dances.
