Public Council Meeting Held at Uzbekistan’s Committee on Interethnic Relations

The meeting brought together representatives of the academic community, leading scholars, field experts, members of the Public Council, and representatives of partner organizations. Members of the general public also took part, ensuring an open and transparent discussion.
The Committee was established under the Presidential Decree No. PF–52 and Resolution No. PQ–115 dated March 19, 2025, on the basis of the former Committee operating under the Ministry of Culture. The reform granted the new body expanded responsibilities in promoting national unity and strengthening engagement with Uzbek compatriots living abroad.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers approved an updated regulation and composition of the Public Council through Resolution No. 740 dated November 24, 2025. The Council’s mandate includes strengthening interethnic harmony, promoting people-to-people diplomacy, enhancing public oversight, and supporting initiatives that connect compatriots with their historical homeland.
During the meeting, Committee Chairman Kahramon R. Sariyev presented a detailed report on the results achieved in 2025 and introduced the Committee’s strategic priorities for the coming year. He emphasized the importance of closer cooperation with civil society institutions and greater public engagement.
Members of the Public Council provided feedback and put forward practical recommendations aimed at improving the effectiveness of the Committee’s activities and strengthening public participation mechanisms.
Following the session, participants visited the pavilion of national cultural centers established under the Committee. The pavilion, showcasing Uzbekistan’s cultural diversity and interethnic harmony, left a strong impression on attendees and highlighted the country’s ongoing reforms in this field.
