The forum highlighted Aitmatov’s significant role in the spiritual and cultural life of both the Uzbek and Kyrgyz peoples. Scholars noted that his iconic works — including The Day Lasts More Than a Hundred Years, The White Ship, Jamila and Mother Earth — captured universal human struggles with exceptional artistic depth and continue to resonate across the world literature stage.
The gathering brought together literary scholars, writers, young researchers and students who shared reflections on Aitmatov’s life and his contribution to modern thought. Participants emphasized that the writer’s legacy has long served as a cultural and moral bridge uniting two closely related nations.
Experts stated that such events play an important role in strengthening cultural ties and nurturing appreciation for literature among youth. “Aitmatov’s works remain a timeless source of humanism and wisdom, offering guidance to new generations,” speakers noted during the forum.
Organizers added that the initiative will pave the way for new collaborative literary projects and expanded academic research focused on studying and promoting Aitmatov’s heritage.
