Representatives of Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Russian, Tatar and Korean cultural centers, along with members of the public, attended the event. Officials noted that the initiative reflects a nationwide program launched by the President of Uzbekistan to establish streets with the same name across all regions. The location is expected to host cultural evenings, exhibitions and educational events.
Opening the ceremony, Deputy Governor Sahobiddin Boliev stated:
“We believe that the first steps toward the great achievements of our youth will begin right here — on the ‘Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan’ street.”
Later that day, the regional Musical Drama Theatre presented a cultural program titled “Uzbekistan — A Land of Tolerance,” featuring representatives of various ethnic communities, religious leaders and members of local social movements.
During the event, several citizens who have contributed to interethnic harmony received the “Religious Tolerance” badge of honor, official letters of appreciation and commemorative gifts.
According to organizers, the new street is expected to become a symbolic reflection of Jizzakh’s multicultural identity. Events held within the “Tolerance Week” framework aim to further strengthen dialogue, harmony and mutual respect across the region.
