A new phase in enhancing energy efficiency in the construction sector has commenced in Uzbekistan. Within the framework of the FELICITY II program, and in cooperation with GIZ, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the National Agency for Energy Efficiency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, processes have been launched to improve building classification and modernization approaches.
In September, consultations, seminars, and technical discussions were held with the participation of representatives of government bodies, профильных institutes, and international experts. During these events, the existing building regulations were analyzed, and proposals were developed to enhance codes related to building energy performance, heating and cooling systems, lighting, and hot water supply.
As part of roundtable discussions, representatives of the public and private sectors addressed issues related to legislative harmonization, capacity building, and the development of energy-efficient design practices.
The implementation of this initiative is expected to facilitate the alignment of national building regulations with advanced international practices, reduce energy consumption in buildings, and support Uzbekistan’s efforts to achieve its climate goals.
For reference:
FELICITY II is an international program aimed at supporting the development of sustainable urban infrastructure in the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Its key objective is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
