An assessment of the operations of JSC “Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine" revealed multiple breaches of environmental compliance requirements.
It was established that hazardous waste generated during the production process is being unlawfully stored in open areas. Such practices have a detrimental impact on soil quality and groundwater resources.
In addition, it was found that wastewater treatment facilities serving the ore management operations located in the city of Angren, Tashkent region, are operating inefficiently. Due to the deterioration of equipment and low treatment performance, wastewater is effectively turning into waste and is being discharged into the Angren River.
As a result of the identified violations, an additional environmental compensation payment in the amount of 48 billion sums has been imposed on the enterprise. Furthermore, the company has been issued a set of 20 mandatory compliance directives.
