The United States and Uzbekistan Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in Radiation and Nuclear Safety

☢️ The instrument is designed to advance institutional cooperation across critical domains, including radiation and nuclear safety assurance, licensing regimes, inspection surveillance, the modernization of statutory frameworks, emergency preparedness and crisis response planning, as well as workforce capacity building and technical knowledge exchange.
The Memorandum will facilitate structured bilateral information sharing and peer review between both regulatory authorities, reinforcing stringent safety governance in the peaceful utilization of atomic energy.
The Memorandum was signed by A. Rafiqov, Chairman of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety, and H. K. Nieh, Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
