RECOMMENDATIONS ON PESTS OF CEREAL CROPS AND THEIR CONTROL.
More than 50 types of insect pests have been observed in the grain fields of our republic. The most common of these are grain aphids, wheat thrips, harmful weevils, slime worms, whistling beetles, Swedish and Hessian flies and other insects that can spread and damage the crop. In this case, the use of insecticides is the best way to combat pests.
Harmful weevils - During the grain budding period, the damaged stalk does not produce ears or becomes a completely white ear (i.e., a hollow). As a result of damage to an unripe ear, the amount of protein and gluten in the grain decreases. It gives birth once a year. Under the influence of harmful insects, 5-50% of the crop is lost, the germination of seeds is reduced by up to 50%. Chemical treatments are used to combat harmful insects when 2-3 overwintering insects or 7-8 new generation larvae are found per 1 m2 (square meter) of the plant during its growth period.
Slugworm (pyavitsa) - a pest that damages plant leaves, with severe damage by slugworm larvae, it can reduce the yield by up to 50%. Slugworms produce 1 generation per year. This is especially noticeable in drought years. Insecticides are used against the pest when 20-30 beetles are found per 1 m2 (square meter) or 50 larvae per 100 stems.
Grain sap. Aphids feed on the green and soft parts of the plant, sucking the sap. As a result, the plant turns yellow and dries up. With severe damage, the grain does not set ears. Aphids produce 10-12 generations during the season. 5-15% of the crop is lost due to aphids. Chemical treatments are carried out against aphids when 15% of the stems of the grain seedlings are covered with a colony (swarm) of aphids. Biological treatments are carried out by distributing 1000-2000 gold-eyed eggs per hectare of area. Wheat thrips. Thrips larvae penetrate the ear husk and feed by sucking the husk and flower sap, and later the grain sap. They produce 1 generation per year. 30-35% of the crop is lost due to thrips. Wheat thrips are controlled by chemical treatment when more than 10 thrips are found on one plant.
Against harmful insects and other pests - it is recommended to use preparations based on Lambda-cyhalothrin at a rate of 0.07-0.1 liters per hectare, and preparations based on Imidacloprid at a rate of 0.1 liters per hectare.
With an OVX and boom sprayer, it is advisable to add 0.2 liters of the drug to 600 liters of water and apply it to an area of 2 hectares.
When spraying with a motorized hand sprayer, it is necessary to add 2.5 ml to 10 liters of water and apply it to an area of 2.5 hectares.
In addition, one of the state-registered chemical preparations based on Lambdasigalotrin, Imidacloprid, Acetamiprid, Alpha-cypermethrin, Deltamethrin, Cypermethrin can be used in the recommended dosage.
