The New Academic Year Begins at Schools Today

In connection with the beginning of the new academic year, leaders at all levels were assigned to general education schools across the region and took part in “First Bell” ceremonies.
During the ceremonies, a congratulatory message from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan addressed to school students, teachers, and mentors was read out. Students and teachers were congratulated on the new academic year, and the ongoing education reforms and new opportunities were highlighted.
In particular, Tashkent Region Hokim Zoyir Mirzayev attended the “First Bell” ceremony at General Education School No. 30 in Buka District, which was reconstructed and completed ahead of the new academic year.
The regional Hokim sincerely congratulated students, teachers, and parents on the 35th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the beginning of the new academic year, and read out a special congratulatory message from the President.
Indeed, in recent years, under the leadership of the President, the foundation for the Third Renaissance has been laid in Uzbekistan based on the noble idea that “New Uzbekistan begins at the school doorstep, through the system of education and upbringing.”
Tashkent Region is also carrying out significant work to develop the education sector, strengthen the material and technical base of schools, and create достойные conditions for students.
In particular, over the past decade, funding allocated to the education sector in the region has increased 6.2-fold, reaching 31.5 trillion soums.
As a result, the number of preschool educational institutions in the region increased from 441 in 2016 to 2,433, while preschool enrollment rose from 27 percent to 74 percent.
In addition, 27 new schools have been built and 237 schools reconstructed. As a result, nearly 100,000 new student places have been created.
Particular attention is currently being paid to supporting talented and knowledge-seeking young people. A new assessment system has been introduced in 400 schools. This year, 25 graduates from the region were admitted to higher education institutions ranked among the world’s TOP-100 universities.
In the new academic year, 61,850 first-graders in Tashkent Region stepped through the school gates for the first time. They were presented with Presidential gifts consisting of 13 types of school supplies.
Teachers’ dedication and professional qualifications play an important role in improving the quality of education. As a result of the opportunities created, the number of teachers continuously working to improve their skills is also growing. Today, 9,934 teachers in the region receive monthly salaries ranging from 6 million to 10 million soums, while 1,974 teachers earn more than 10 million soums per month. This figure has increased by 848 compared to last year.
General Education School No. 30 in Buka District, where the “First Bell” ceremony was held, was also newly constructed and commissioned ahead of the new academic year.
The new educational institution has a capacity of 330 students. A total of 12.2 billion soums was allocated for its construction. The school became a worthy gift to students and teachers on the eve of the 35th anniversary of our country’s independence.
The school was built on the site of the old building constructed in 1976, in accordance with modern requirements. Currently, 27 teachers provide education and upbringing to 209 students at the institution.
During the event, the new school building was inspected, and the conditions created for students were reviewed. The new academic year was officially launched to the sound of the first school bell.
