The National Nature Park "Pap" is located in the middle and high mountain zone of the eastern-northern part of the Kurama mountain range. It starts from the confluence of the Kandigon and Pashakhan streams at an altitude of 1200-4033 meters above sea level. Situated within the territory of the Pap district of the Namangan region, it borders on the northeast and west with the Pap specialized state forestry, and on the south with populated areas.
The total area is 10,000.0 hectares, of which 6000.0 hectares are designated as a protective zone, 3000.0 hectares as a recreational zone, and 1000.0 hectares as an economic zone.
The National Nature Park "Pap" features ecotourism sites and several cultural heritage sites that attract both foreign and local tourists.
Natural conditions: The territory formed as a tectonic depression back in the Paleozoic era. The soil base of the hills consists of chalky rocks.
The area has a unique geographical specificity. All streams located on the border of the national park flow into the Chodaksay, which in turn flows into the Syrdarya River. The natural lake Oydincol is located within the national park. The lake primarily formed as a result of snow and glacier melt in the upper parts of the mountains, with the water level varying depending on the season. The park has numerous streams, such as Pashakhan, Gainlik, Kattigkol, Bori Khona, Sangsaloxay, Chega, Sharshara, Maydan, Almalik, Indigon, Kandigon, Tavat, Big Ovushkhan, Small Ovushkhan, Chakatikan, Tashlak, and Urilika. Most of the streams in the reserve are formed from snow and rain accumulated on the mountain peaks, as well as from springs located on the slopes of the mountains.
Flora: In the mountain region, at an altitude of 1300 - 2800 m, deciduous shrubs, hawthorn, juniper, and deciduous mountain forests grow. Pastures are located within the range of 2700-2800 m to perpetual glaciers (the lower part is occupied by subalpine meadows, and the upper part by alpine meadows).
Fauna: The national park is home to about 200 invertebrates, over 20 species of mammals, around 100 species of birds, over 10 reptiles, 2 species of amphibians, and 3 species of fish. Among them, 1 species of mammal and 9 species of birds are listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Ecotourism spots: The majority of the territory is covered with stones and gravel, forming a complex mosaic of different ecosystems. The recreational zone includes the picturesque Lake Aydin and various entertainment attractions.
The transition zone between plains and mountains is occupied by ecosystems of mountain semi-deserts. Mountain steppes are covered with diverse herbaceous plants. Xerophytic mountain shrubs are widespread throughout the reserve and in the upper part of the protected area. Juniper and broad-leaved trees form forests within the national park. The lower boundary of the forest is 800-1000 meters, while the upper boundary is 2500 meters above sea level. Mountain forest ecosystems have high protective and forage resources, making the fauna very diverse.
Adjacent to the nature park, in the territory of the village of Verkhne Chodakboshi of the Pap district, there is the "Davr" hotel.
The national park is located 240-250 km from the regional center and 70-80 km from the district center.
