Project on wastewater treatment discussed with the public in Namangan region

The hearings were organized at the branch of JSC “Namangan suv ta’minoti” in Namangan District, as well as in the mahallas of “Ravnaq,” “Saxovat,” “Qo‘shchinor,” “Urganchi,” and “Beshkapa,” which are included in the project implementation area. The event was attended by representatives of the khokimiyats of Namangan Region and District, JSC “Namangan suv ta’minoti,” the management of “Namangan Metito” enterprise, specialists of the “JURU” organization on environmental and social issues, mahalla chairpersons, active citizens, representatives of farming enterprises, and specialists from relevant organizations.
The hearings, conducted in the format of an open dialogue, were aimed at studying public opinion, explaining the goals and objectives of the project, and discussing current environmental issues. Specialists presented detailed information on the environmental and social impacts of the project, the condition of the construction area, the application of modern technologies, and the efficiency of wastewater treatment.
For reference, the project предусматривает modernization of the existing wastewater treatment system in Namangan District and the construction of a new modern treatment facility. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to reconstruct the facility on an area of 3.5 hectares, introduce mechanical and biological treatment processes based on advanced foreign technologies, and install new sewer networks. In addition, special monitoring sensors will be installed at the main discharge points to ensure continuous monitoring of wastewater quality indicators.
During the public hearings, residents drew attention to issues such as unpleasant odors emanating from the sewerage system, negative impacts on agricultural lands, discharge of wastewater into the river, and the deterioration of pipelines. Specialists noted that the project has been improved, aligned with international and national standards, and developed using modern technologies. It is expected that the implementation of the project will reduce odor problems, ensure complete treatment of discharged wastewater, and prevent negative impacts on the environment.
At the end of the hearings, participants expressed their opinions and proposals on the project, emphasizing the need for its phased and transparent implementation with due consideration of environmental and social aspects.
